Meet Dr. Erika Horowitz

My PhilosophyOne of the fundamental principles in naturopathic medicine is ‘First do no harm;’ accordingly, I understand that a key concept in healing is to identify the cause of disease rather than simply treat or suppress the symptoms. I believe strongly in the connection between mind, body and spirit. The human body has an inherent vital ability to heal itself with the support of appropriate noninvasive therapies. This approach requires treating the whole person, not just the disease. I respect my patients for the unique, dynamic, ever-changing individuals they are. My goal as your health care provider is to truly listen to your needs and concerns, so I can effectively address your immediate health care issues and provide long-lasting results. Recognizing that each individual’s needs are unique, I work with you to identify your personal health goals and, assist you in attaining those goals while increasing wellness and vitality in an effort to obtain optimal health and balance. About My PracticeEmbracing the naturopathic principle of ‘doctor as teacher’, my patient care emphasizes education and empowerment in one's own healing process. The more we understand our own bodies and the mechanisms that cause illness, the more committed we become to optimizing wellness. I am dedicated to educating you about your body, how it functions and its capacity to heal itself. It is my goal to build a collaborative healing relationship with each individual in an effort to maximize personal health. Underlying causes of illness can be determined by conducting a comprehensive interview to gather past, present and family medical histories. I pay special attention to the effects that diet, digestion, stress, sleep, lifestyle, and exercise have on a patient’s health. Using the appropriate diagnostic exams and laboratory tests, I can evaluate digestive function, nutritional status, detoxification processes, immune and cardiovascular health, and hormone and endocrine balance. Botanical medicine, nutrient therapy, Chinese herbs, detoxification programs, physical medicine, biotherapeutic drainage (a European-based form of homeopathy), bioidentical hormones, and nutrition and lifestyle counseling are used to customize a natural, nontoxic treatment plan for each individual. This holistic approach is used to support each individual in the healing process, to maintain wellness and to promote prevention.
