Meet Dr. Carl Hangee-Bauer
About My Practice
As a naturopathic doctor and licensed acupuncturist, I combine western natural medicine with acupuncture and Chinese medicine to provide effective natural solutions to your specific health needs. I seek to treat the underlying cause of disease and poor health, not just the symptoms, using diet and supplements, herbal medicine and acupuncture. The services I offer include:
• Comprehensive history and evaluation • Quality face-to-face time with a doctor who listens • An individualized treatment plan • Collaborative and integrative care • Health enhancement and preventive care • Herbal and nutritional support
My ExpertiseDr. Hangee-Bauer is one of the NICEST doctors I have ever met, and trust me, I have seen many in my days.
—Johnny R. By integrating naturopathic medicine and acupuncture, I provide: - Treatment of acute and chronic pain and injury
- Treatment of immune system disorders, such as allergies and asthma
- Relief from digestive problems
- Natural support for chronic health issues
My PhilosophyDuring my training in naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University, I was introduced to the concepts and practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. It became clear to me that both systems of health care have had long histories of practice. Studying them gave me insights which I would not have had using only one. Naturopathic medicine's focus on modern applications of traditional health wisdom helped me better understand the ancient traditions of acupuncture. It was then that I decided to study acupuncture in greater depth and create a clinic which would integrate these systems to provide my patients with the best of both worlds. In my practice I adhere to these principles: - To first do no harm
- To identify and treat causes
- To treat the whole person
- To teach people ways to improve and maintain good health
- To emphasize prevention
- To trust in the healing power of nature
Naturopathic and traditional Chinese medicine each view symptoms as the body's way of expressing an imbalance, and the goal of therapy is to support the body's innate healing ability. Both systems also recognize the individuality that each person has and seeks to treat the whole person. Most importantly, both systems seek to treat the causes of our health problems and not just the symptoms.Chinese medicine uses the concept of roots and branches. Instead of treating a variety of symptoms separately, we look for a root cause. While some treatments might be used to relieve symptoms such as pain, naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists always seek to address the cause. Once the root is treated, the branches become healthier. This leads not only to treatment of current health problems, but also to prevention and better quality of life along the way. I believe that naturopathic medicine is common-sense medicine. It is about finding balance in a world out of balance. It is my goal to help you find a healthful balance in life. What I Love about What I DoThere are many things I love about my work. I get great satisfaction when people I work with understand how to manage their health issues, often simply and effectively, using the principles and tools of natural medicine. It's great to see someone who has been struggling with a health problem realize that they have the power to improve their health in partnership with their health provider. As a founder of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, I have played an active role in successfully gaining licensure for NDs in California. I am thankful to be a part of the naturopathic medical profession as it has allowed me to grow in many ways and help change the way medicine is practiced in California.
